Water fire extinguisher helps in tackling Class A type of fires. These types of extinguishers cannot be used to fight those fires that are caused due to the burning of electrical items or for burning through oils. Water inside the water fire extinguisher is kept along with pressurized oxygen. It has two versions: Jet type & Super spray type. Both these extinguishers can be used to fight fires at distances up to six meters.

The water inside water fire extinguisher is sent out at high pressure, when the air, kept compressed inside the extinguisher, is released. The compressed air is released when the lever operating the valve, containing the air, is pressed. The valve is opened by the help of a rod that presses it down and releases the compressed air.

Similar to other type of fire extinguishers, water fire extinguisher should also be properly maintained. To ensure the safety of the extinguisher, a pressure test should be conducted in the gap of few years.
